Ching Tan is a Managing Director and head of Siguler Guff’s Shanghai office. Mr. Tan is a senior member of the Firm's investment staff and sits on the BRIC Opportunities Fund's Investment Committee. Mr. Tan joined Siguler Guff in December 2006 to support the BRIC Opportunities Fund team in building long-term relationships in China with fund managers, entrepreneurs, local intermediaries, government officials, industry experts, as well as to support Siguler Guff’s due diligence with a deep local understanding.
Prior to joining Siguler Guff, Mr. Tan was a Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare in China, responsible for managing the $300 million medical imaging business including CT, MRI, X-ray and Molecular Imaging equipment. Prior to this, he held a variety of management positions in GE, both in China and the U.S., in healthcare, transportation, marketing and product management. He also worked as a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton in Chicago and at an Asia-based venture capital firm in Beijing. Prior to his graduate studies in the U.S., Mr. Tan worked in engineering and marketing with a local company in China for four years. He was born and raised in China.
Mr. Tan holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Xian Jiaotong University, an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
