John Gu is a Director at Siguler Guff and an experienced executive in the Internet, telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and professional services industries. Mr. Gu has extensive experience advising enterprise digital transformation and B2B companies in the areas of cloud, SaaS, big data and Artificial Intelligence.
Prior to joining Siguler Guff, he was the Chief Information Officer of Baidu, the largest Chinese-language Internet search engine and a provider of more than 60 online search and community services. In this role, Mr. Gu defined the company’s IT strategy and led various enterprise digital transformation efforts. He was responsible for business processes, application, data and infrastructure. He spearheaded mobile enterprise management and built a cloud-based online education platform that served millions of users. Mr. Gu was also instrumental in leveraging company-wide data to support Baidu Research Institute's enterprise customers.
Prior to joining Baidu, Mr. Gu served as the Chief Information Officer of Alcatel-Lucent, a global telecommunications equipment company, as well as a subsidiary, Radio Frequency System, where he managed Information Systems/Information Technology (IS/IT) teams and led IT integration following the Alcatel-Lucent merger. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, Mr. Gu was the Director of the Y2K Program Office and IT Planning at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
Mr. Gu holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from Shanghai JiaoTong University, an M.S. from Loyola University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
